    FAQs

Does the GitHub integration work with private repositories?

Yes, XTM's GitHub app works with both public and private repositories. We use secure OAuth authentication or personal access tokens and only access the repositories you specifically authorise. Your code remains private and secure throughout the translation process.

Which file formats can be automatically translated through GitHub?

The integration supports common localisation file formats including JSON, YAML, RESX, XML, properties files, and more. XTM Cloud automatically detects translatable content within these commits while preserving code structure and formatting.

Can I control which branches trigger automatic translation?

Absolutely. You can map specific branches, repositories, or file paths for translation. Set up rules so only production branches trigger translations, or include development branches for continuous localisation. The choice is yours.

How does the integration handle translation updates and revisions?

When source files change in GitHub via commits, XTM Cloud detects the updates and only translates new or modified content. Existing translations are preserved, and translators can see context from previous versions to maintain consistency across updates.
